Season Dates:
Pre-season kicks off in November with fun rides with the team
Registration begins in October and closes late November 2024
Practice begins in December, and we really kick it into full gear in January
Practices:
We practice 1- 2 weekdays and every Saturday. We expect athletes to attend at least one weekday practice and all Saturday practices.
Practices are primarily held at Contra Loma Regional Park and Los Vaqueros Reservoir.
On weekends we often do away rides heading to Walnut Creek, Clayton, Fairfield, Livermore, and more.
During the rainy season we do group spin classes at Delta Valley Athletic Club in Brentwood.
Races:
The season consists of 4 races throughout Northern California (from Monterey to Lake County, over East to Stanislas national Forest and back up to Sacramento) , plus a championship race held monthly February thru end of May.
During the 2023/2024 season, races were held at:
Fort Ord (Monterey area)
Granite Bay (Sacramento area)
Six Sigma Winery (Lake Country)
Exchequer (Stanislas County)
Championships: Six Sigma Winery (Lake Country)
The winter months are spent building skills and fitness. The spring months are filled with league events and adventure rides around Northern California.
Team Requirements:
Bikes must be maintained by the student . See the Bikes & Gear information below for more information.
Riders must demonstrate ability, try hard and keep trying, show up and have a good attitude!
Riders must represent the Team with the highest level of courtesy and respect at all League and Team functions.
Riders must be in good standing at their respective schools and must commit to attending practice and Team events on a regular basis through the season.
Helmets are required at all times when on your bike (no exceptions).
Health insurance coverage is required (you ride at your own risk).
Team Uniform:
Team Store will open when registration is open
In addition to uniforms, team gear will also be available (sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, etc.)

What equipment do I need to get started?
A mountain bike in safe, working order is critical. We can help you with bike shop and mechanical support and resources to make sure bike is safely ready to ride. If you don’t have a bike, we can help you get one through discount programs with NICA NorCal
Helmet in good condition
Safe, comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes. We recommend padded mountain biking shorts
Water bottle or hydration pack (aka Camelbak) and a snack (e.g., energy bar)
Basic tools to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, patch kit). A multi-tool is also advised.
